Permeen Yusoff
Research Fellow

Permeen Yusoff

Permeen Yusoff is an experienced biochemist, molecular biologist, and translational researcher with a career spanning tertiary hospitals, academic institutions, and biomedical research institutes. Her work focuses on stem cell, cardio biology, cancer biology, molecular signaling, and the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinically relevant applications. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Medicine at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, University of Melbourne, where her doctoral research centered on blood cancer biomarkers. During her PhD training, she collaborated closely with leading research groups at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI) and the Ludwig Cancer Institute in Melbourne. Her early research contributed to understanding the role of PI3K signaling in cancer development. Following her doctoral studies, she continued her research in cancer signaling at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo (IMSUT), where she was awarded a JSPS research fellowship. Her work there further expanded into molecular oncology and intracellular signaling pathways. In Singapore, she has worked in translational and research support roles at Duke-NUS Medical School, including leadership responsibilities at the Center for Technology and Development (CTeD). In this capacity, she has led innovation and enterprise activities, supporting clinician-scientists in cancer, immunology, and aging research programs. She has also contributed extensively to biomedical research administration, including NMRC grant applications, RIE2020 central grant submissions, annual reporting, and scientific manuscript preparation for principal investigators. Outside of her professional work, she has interests in cooking, reading, travel, and bread making, and has obtained a master-level certification in Japanese bread-making techniques.
